Embarking on a build can be stressful enough but when it’s a major renovation and you have a baby on the way and three other children under 5 it could be a nightmare!

We are really grateful to the team at Stewart Hanna Ltd for making our renovation such a good experience. Our project was a pretty major strip out, rebuild and re-clad with most areas of the house experiencing some change. For the early stages we were still living in the home as it was being pulled apart, it can be difficult having all the builders coming and going but the guys on site were great! They were really respectful and did their best to keep me informed of when the noise was going to kick in or the dust was about to blow.

The project took almost 12 months and I think the strength of the Stewart Hanna Ltd team was in the communication. I met with Steve Ross each month and we looked at what was coming up as well as where we were compared to the budget. We were able to make informed decisions well ahead of time if product was not available or if we were looking for savings. That mean’t…there were no surprises.

Steve was great at coming up with ideas where we needed to differ from the architect’s plan or helping us finish off areas that hadn’t been in the original plan.

We are completely happy with all of the aspects of our home and would definitely use Steve and the Stewart Hanna Ltd team again in the future if we were looking to build or renovate.

Steve Ross and his team constructed our new house and we have been hugely impressed with the results, the quality of the work, and the attention to detail. The company are plainly committed to the highest standards of workmanship in their work and in the work of all their subcontractors. We have been in the house for eight months now, and continue to be impressed with the work done; the attention to detail in the finishing is amazing. The architect is equally pleased with the results.

We interviewed several builders before we began. Stewart Hanna Ltd were well recommended, but they had our trust and confidence right from our first meeting. Steve Ross was prompt and accurate with his price quotation and proposal, and throughout the project he made suggestions that improved results and avoided unnecessary costs. The project proceeded on time, and closely followed the work schedule provided at the beginning. Throughout the project it was evident that Stewart Hanna Ltd and their sub-trades are very conscientious about their work, and always did that little bit extra.

Steve worked closely with the architect at all stages. He returned our calls promptly and took the time to work with us, as decisions were required. Nothing was ever a problem. On the few occasions where there were differences of opinion, they were resolved quickly and cordially. The relationships between builder and clients was a happy one. It was also evident that Stewart Hanna Ltd are good at maintaining effective relationships with the architect, engineer, and building inspector, and with all the subcontractors that they employ. The building site was always tidy and the neighbors were happy with the activity during the construction process.

We would not hesitate to refer Stewart Hanna Ltd to any of our family or friends.

Steve was the third builder we had met on the search for the company that would build our dream home. We met him at a house he had recently built in the country. Our first impression was, he's a friendly guy, and at the end of the tour we concluded he was extremely professional as well. We talked to the owners privately about Steve and his crew and they couldn't talk highly enough of him. "Great ideas" was one comment and "nothing was too much trouble" was another. I would add that the quality of the build was second to none, and we were impressed.

After that visit Steve made the short short list, and after his quote came in, he got the job.

It's a decision we're glad we made, as this project was not only a large and complex build, but also our first new home, and maybe our only build. You often read of people who have built three or four homes, and now they're building their dream home from the lessons learned. We had one shot of getting it right, so the right builder was paramount. The build was well planned and any hold ups were mainly caused by us and our lack of ignorance with the time required for decisions. Bathroom taps and basalt are a couple that come to mind. Steve employs professionals that build a quality home. That is what we demanded and that is what we got. All variations were handled with ease, and Steve kept his good humour intact through to the end. We can't speak highly enough of Steve and the professionals he has working for him. You get a quality home that you're proud to come home too. We love coming home to our slice of paradise.

One of the most important things we were looking for when it came time to build our new home was the builder we would be working with. We needed someone who we could rely upon, communicate easily with, who would adopt and share our vision, adapt to what we wanted and deliver our home to a high standard. We were fortunate to find all these qualities in Steve Ross and SJR Builders.

Steve was involved in the project from the very early planning stages and with his extensive experience and knowledge was able to provide valued insight into how we could achieve what we wanted. During construction there were times when we would make changes and these were always accommodated.
